"Hello! You've reached Takeda Hikaru, co-Guardian of Everglade. If this is an urgent matter, please call the Everglade Guardian office at [XXX-XXXX]. If this is a personal matter, please leave your name, your number, and a short message. I'll reply as soon as I can. Thank you and have a good day!"

I don't really want to go alone.

[ Besides, if she said no, she'd never hear the end of it from Tony. Has she really been that much of a workaholic? ]
All right, sure. Why not? I'm just wrapping stuff up here at the office. Do you want me to come pick you up in my hovercar?

[ He was being both selfish and unnecessarily harsh, he knew, but he couldn't stand the idea of her being hurt. He didn't doubt her capability but things still went wrong in the most capable of hands. Tony couldn't just not react or pretend he was okay with the idea that he might lose her if things got too intense. Death was temporary or so they said, but the idea... no. No, he would not let that happen. ]
[voice]
I felt like they needed my expertise with this however possible, so I at least offered. If they don't want to take me up on my offer, that's fine. I just--I couldn't sit back and not do anything, you know?
[ A pause came next, only pierced by the squeak of her office chair while she tried to think of what to say next. ]
I'm sorry. I-- I know you care about me, so if push comes to shove, for once I'll think about my own life so that I can survive another day or so.
[voice]
[ Somehow her words deflated the anger in his voice. She was so much like Steve in that moment. Led by selflessness, honor, duty -- the person who would lay on the barbed wire so someone else could get across. ]
If you do this... if you do this -- [ He forced back a wave of panic. That had to wait until later. ] -- then I'm going to be there. I am not about to let the only person close to family I have left go and put her life on the line without me at her side. If you're going to be stubborn and reckless then so will I.
[ Tony felt like he was going to be sick, honestly. There were still nights where he saw the carnage of New York when he slept. What that had done to him was never going to go away. But if Hikaru was involved... he had to be as well. There was no choice. If a sacrifice play had to be made in a bizarre deja vu of the past, so be it. He'd rather it be him than her.
... had he just admitted he thought of her as family? ]

So I'm trying to learn how to use a gun and now I can shoot one and I understand the different types. I...prefer shorter range guns, and hitting the target is one thing, but I need to learn how to actually fight with one because of...something.
[A pause.] On my world, we build our weapons, so I've also been studying how they're made, and I'm planning to make something more versatile. I could use your advice and help and I can definitely pay you for everything.
[Voice] apologies for the delay!
voice;
Do you like Gingerbread?
[Is it really that serious a question?]
voice;
[ This is certainly an unusual question, but it's at least a welcome one from the stress of everything. ]
Yes, I do. I haven't had it in quite some time, though.
voice;
[Strange question, but he had his reason behind it.]
voice; apologies for the delay!

You'd get to see more technology from my year, at least.

I don't want you to have to lose something.

If you are interested I would like to have a discussion about your position as an instructor for Nova Trade Academy.

[Voice]
It does not particularly have to be tonight, but at some point I would like to meet with you to discuss possible recruitment into Honnouji. It is a military-style academy that is currently lacking a firearms instructor.
[Beat.]
Would something like that interest you at all?
[Voice] apologies for the delay!
[Voice] Np, wb!

In fact, the last I heard, Satou-san is still aiding us out in Everglade while balancing her Deputy duties in Attleton. She is quite busy in Genessia, isn't she?
Everything is fine between us, Guardian Andor.
Re: text
[ Even if it won't be the same kind of close cooperation that used to exist between Everglade and Attleton, he does want them to do well. ]
It's true that Deputy Kurenoko will still be working with you, as her position in Attleton is unpaid. I think getting a different town's perspective will be good for my office, too. In my time we haven't had anyone who worked for the regular police prior.

My Name is Colin Enno Diederich III, and I have read about several candidates expressing interest for more Deputies. To save the time of an extended back-and-forth on the matter I am submitting a small application of sorts and preemptively agree to any tests required on my part. As for what I have done to ready myself for the endeavor of being Deputy; I have read extensively on the laws of all fives cities and will be send this application to all five Guardian-Elect as law is something worth pursuing no matter the location, and I personally agree with statements and platforms issued thus far by each Guardian-Elect.
For practical skills; in my home I am a Knight-Errant and have served in my Country's military. For slightly more fantastical feats that I wish to keep secret between myself and you five; I am in the midst of saving my solar system from a calamity, if you wish for more details to that matter I request an in-person meeting as I do not want my words recorded so no one from my home is filled with apprehension nor worry. I do not claim to be a hero of any means and I will offer a guarantee that as a Knight-Errant that ego will not be an issue.
Also let me say that as these portable devices are interesting at best; I do not require a text response and my inbox is always open. In the event you have individuals you were specifically hoping to recruit; a response of declination is not necessary on your part.
Sincerely,
Colin Enno Diederich III
